Seniors are to be valued”- this not the word for not only today, but for
years, it has been said. Senior citizens are stunning blend of experience,
culture, work ethics, ideas and common sense. As a unique community, they
are always looked upon for their immense value system that they are ready
to provide for the well being of the country. They are one among the important
and most valuable national’s natural resources and treasures. When you make
the value chart or graph, you surely can place them first before gold, fuel
and other natural resources. due to the increase in span of life, the number
of senior population grow like mushrooms and the retirement communities
are springing up all over the country, especially at the edges of the cities.
It is bliss away from bustle for the senior citizen.
Youth today who are the seniors of tomorrow, consist of the impression that
if there is anything in this senior community, it is done in painful slow
motion process. And only a few know that the concentration on the seniors
is becoming very virtual hothouses of activity.
Only a little of the habitual pursuits in the seniors are present, like
sports, recreation, arts, higher studies and various hobbies.
They also extend their pursuits in other activities which leads to a total
personality change, for example

o Past plumbers learning law
o Housewives happen to be licensed accountants.
o Pensioned military people opt for studies in medicines

The classic picture of seniors rocking on the chairs on the front porch,
reading, listening to the music, watching television, narrating stories,
knitting grandma, and waiting for the kids’ arrival has turned upside down
in the new technology era. Seniors today are definitely not the elder citizens
in the past.
The latent talent, education and experience are pooled in the retirement
neighborhoods and communities. These basic knowledge and skills get multiplied
amazingly with the blend of past work and life experiences of the seniors.
All these result in a vast and mature mass of individuals with strong work
ethics mixed with education and experience.
It is estimated that in US, fifteen million plus jobs will be vacant due
to the retirement in the up coming years. Due to the shortage of youths
to take up these posts, again the aged has the preference to choose the
job. But before that the seniors must polish their job skills. As the health
expenses are very much expensive in the market, and with no abating in the
future, it is high time to consider the income, either part time or full
time.
